I hear

SALAD FINGERS!

A Bad Rap

That's what you get, says I, judging by the consistently low ratings I keep seeing on all the songs I look at. Also the whole "not an impact track" thing doesn't seem like something I can agree with. This could be pretty wounded and chilling, or just very soothing with some vocals to it. I hear a female singer, or something very soft from a guy. Reminds me of stuff like "In This Twilight" and "Right Where It Belongs" by NIN. Very tragic towards the end, which is really cool. Subtle, but masterful as well XD

snayk responds:

I LOVE THOSE TWO SONGS. I'm flattered :D

I don't think I get a bad rap; it's just that a load of my tracks have been getting zero voted everyday by someone with a very high voting power. I don't think score is a good indication of a track's quality in the AP.

Anyways, I'm really glad you enjoyed the track so much. Thanks a lot for the review!

not that repetitive

Songs like this make me wish newgrounds had a downtempo, trip-hop, or chill section in the audio. Things like this would just get lost in all the same repetitive breaks in the dnb section. I love how the music seems to invoke images akin to the title so very well. The glitchy decomposition at about 3:30 is pretty sweet :D

Hmm.....

There's a lot of potential here. What I'm assuming is the chorus should be growled a bit more. Not screamed or anything, but if the singer pushed his voice a little bit more, the vocal melodies there are really good. It actually kind of reminds me of the vocal delivery in some songs by Staind, which is odd with a punk song lol. But, you know what the heart of real punk is, just by listening to this. Simple, heartfelt, and fun. Can't wait to hear what happens if/when you redo this :D

Moon-Shadow responds:

Our singers voice was a little shot before this song was recorded, but I don't understand what you mean by growl. Like sing it lower or something?
Whatever but Brad (the singer) has a bit of a high voice so I don't think a growl would work.

Thanks for the input!

Reminds Me Of A Lot of Good Trip-Hop and Downtempo

Seems to fit somewhere between those little filler thingies on Adult Swim and obscure Sneaker Pimps tracks. The little tinny background noises around 1:30 are a nice touch. Really, a lot of the background noises are very good choices; they add a lot of personality and atmosphere, especially that siren-esque noise. Good choice of title too, since the song feels kind of reminiscent of driving out of a big city at night or something. Very good track :D

Lol

Feels like a big time pianist just decided to crash a hardcore band's practice, which I mean in an awesome way lol. I liked the original, but this is way better :D

Yeah, about that horn

It kills some amazing piano work for sure. I was pretty enthralled until that noise came in. It would have worked better on something a lot more subtle or maybe an acoustic guitar synth or something. It's just too harsh for something so peaceful. Hell, the piano could have stood on its own. I'd love to see you rework this though, 'cause I am that in love with the piano work lol.

Impressed

Well, I usually hate trance because it's kinda cliched and because lots of folks on here use the same screeching, high-pitched synths, but your synth work was so complex and so layered that it did indeed keep my attention and I was thoroughly pleased after I decided to sit and listen. The backbeat really worked and that lead was amazing. If you ever decided to rework this, the voice you used between like 1:20 and 1:45 was the best one. Good stuff for sure though, builds and toys with suspense and momentum really well :D

Love The Piano Melodies!

That higher, real piano sound at the beginning and the end was amazing! I wish there would have been more of it, but I still like how each minute seems to highlight a different sound. Feels like some manner of afterparty, which suits the title really well. It gets a tad repetitive due to some of the background sounds, but it's still very impressive.

ID-N responds:

thanx you got it!!!
its sometimes a bit repetitive sure
in future i will do that better
glad u like this one

Better than Most

The mastering is a little harsh on bass and snares, but I still love how you made this your own instead of recycling the same, tired beats and by avoiding the usual synth sounds that everyone puts into stuff like this. The rise and fall in the background keeps interest and makes a great momentum. As a composer, you obviously know what you're doing :D
